As part of this project, a sonophotocatalytic process for water decontamination and disinfection was developed. This is characterized by the combination of ultrasound-induced effects (cavitation and shear forces) with classic photocatalysis in a reaction chamber to break down (micro-) pollutants such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides and for disinfection.
