Coatings offer the opportunity to selectively tailor the properties of metal surfaces over a wide range. Our expertise in sol-gel coating enables us to apply transparent sol-gel layers to metal surfaces, significantly enhancing their performance characteristics and improving functionality, durability, and aesthetics – all without compromising the appearance of the base material.

The cost effective sol-gel process offers a wide range of options for the enhancement and functionalisation of metallic surfaces, including:

  • Surface functionalization to control wetting behavior (hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity, and oleophobicity)
  • Increased corrosion and wear resistance, especially for non-ferrous metals
  • Improved chemical resistance to acidic and alkaline solutions
  • Anti-adhesive effect (“easy-to-clean”) or improved adhesion
  • Functional coatings (electrical insulation, photocatalysis)
  • Antimicrobial finish
