The GMBU e.V. “Functional Coatings” department located in Dresden, Germany, has many years of experience in functionalizing and modifying various material surfaces. We specialize in a wide range of technologies for developing coatings and other surface treatments. These include surface pre-treatments (e.g., plasma activation), the synthesis and application of coating solutions (sol-gel processes), and the analysis and characterisation of the generated coatings.

- Sol-gel process
Synthesis & application of nanoscale coating solutions (nanosols) for the production of thin metal oxide layers as well as inorganic/organic hybrid layers and gels - Coatings & surface modifications
Production of thin layers on various material surfaces (e.g. wood, metal, textiles, glass, plastics, paper) to adjust the desired physical, chemical and/or biological properties - Immobilisation of active substances and microorganisms
Embedding of bioactive substances and (living) microorganisms to create bioactive surfaces/materials for applications in biotechnology, environmental technology and sensor technology
