Relase of NO under blue light for topical application in muscle tension

As part of the project, the preliminary work for a topical therapy was realized, which allows the resolution of muscle tension without harmful side effects, thus alleviating or significantly reducing the pain caused by these tensions. To achieve this, a preparation was developed for topical application that contains a component suitable for the release of nitric oxide (NO) in the skin. The work demonstrated that the application of this formulation leads to an enhanced enzymatic release of nitric oxide in blood and skin tissue. Additionally, it was shown that the release of NO can be further intensified by combining this formulation with light exposure (above the ultraviolet spectrum) in the wavelength range of 450 to 460 nm (blue light). This results in a synergistic effect of both treatment steps, providing an enhanced physiological action of NO.
