Glass Coatings

Glass Coatings

The wet chemical sol-gel process can be used to selectively modify the properties of glass surfaces. This method is more cost-effective than high vacuum coating. Additionally, the sol-gel process enables effective coating and treatment of large glass surfaces. After thin layers are applied to the glass surface by methods such as dipping or spraying, the glass is tempered at high temperatures, resulting in the formation of metal oxide layers that adhere firmly to the surface. The desired properties and specifications can be precisely tailored by adjusting coating solutions, layer thickness, and the number of layers.

Our research focuses on:

  • photocatalytic active layers
  • surface functionalization to control wetting behavior (hydrophilicity, hydrophobicity, and oleophobicity)
  • anti-scratch coatings
  • optical functional layers (e.g., anti-reflection, transmission, or polarization layers)
  • decorative coatings

With our extensive experience in the synthesis and development of thin metal oxide films for surface property modification, we would be pleased to assist you in finding a solution for your application. Feel free to contact us – we look forward to working with you.
